5 tips to get the most out of Alton Towers

Alton towers is a great day out, though people from around the world come to visit the theme park. Luckily I only live an hour away from the park so I’ve visited there quite a lot. Over the years I’ve discovered quite a few simple but effective tips on how to get the most out of your day out at Alton Towers.

1. Get there early

Set off as early as possible. Try to aim just before the opening times, mainly because you don’t know what the traffic is like getting there (The only way to get to the entrance/car park is through a lot of small, narrow widing roads)  so expect traffic at peak times.

2. Aim for just one big ride

90% of the time there are queues, especially for the big rides. Personally, I set a target for just one big ride such as Air or Oblivion. Remember, you’re trying to prevent your day being wasted from waiting hours just for a ride that lasts under 2 minutes!

3. Don’t forget smaller rides

If it is busy on the day you visit, don’t forget about the smaller rides. You’ll get the same enjoyment out of the flume or the Runaway Mine Train, they just have smaller waiting times to get on them compared to the bigger rides.

4. Bring food and drink

Food and drink can be quite costly at Alton Towers especially when you’re on a tight budget like my student self. There is nothing wrong with bring lunch and a water bottle with you! It saves you £8 and will still fill you up. It will also saves you the time waiting to order your refreshments as well.

5. Long queue on a ride? Join it!

Sounds silly, but trust me, if you have the time get in that 1 and a half hour queue for Air if you are so desperate to go on it. The queue will rarely die down later on in the day but instead will just increase in size!!

So there you have it, five simple tips on how you get the most out of a day out to Alton Towers, I hope you will find this article a little bit useless and hopefully will save you an hour or two.

Lets get this show back on the road!

Hello, it’s me again back from my break away from my blog I had exactly a month ago. Man, life has been so busy but so relaxing at the same time. College has ended, I’ve had two trips to Alton Towers, got a load of CV’s into a few places since I’m job seeking and I’ve splashed out on a HTC Desire and a swanky new laptop all ready for Uni starting mid-september.

I’ve got so maybe interesting ideas for my blog, so you’ll be seeing a few of these throughout the year. So here is a sneaky peek at what I have got lined up that you should see trickling through the next couple of weeks:

Me and my EEE reboot – as promised in the previous post I will be reviewing how Fedora 13 runs on the EEE. I’ve also got a few useful posts for any Windows Netbook Users too.

Android News/Developement/Etc – I’ll be posting interesting snippets that I either find myself or while I’ve gathered while surfing the web. I’m also hoping to indulge myself in Android Game Development too so stay tuned from any progress updates.

Game Development – I’ve been playing around with several different game tech demos, ranging from 3D top down “open-city” sandbox games to 2D platformers, I’ll be posting screenshots and videos of my work and creations, heck even a demo! (If it’s playable..)

I’m also wanting to widen the subjects I write for my blog, so not every post will be technology related. I hope you all still keep reading and keep checking back for updates!

See ‘ya around!
